Congo : China to build tanker port at Pointe Noire

LIBREVILLE,  Jan 13  (Infosplusgabon) -  Congo will soon build a tanker port at Pointe Noire, in the south of the country, with the help of China in a bid to improve the country’s capacity to import and export goods, official sources said on Saturday.

The port, to be constructed by the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), will cover an area of 9 sq km and will consist of 31 quays, including bulk, iron as well as multifunctional quays.   The new port will also consist of stocks and logistics depots, a potassium factory, a refinery, a storehouse, a commercial zone and a power plant that will serve the needs of enterprises.

It will cater for ships with a maximum capacity of 300,000 tons.   A new road linking the port to the road transport and train network will also be built.
