Kampala, Uganda, January  1st (Infosplusgabon) - Frenchman Sebastien Desabre has been named Uganda head coach on a three-year contract.

According to the CAf media outlet, Desabre replaces Serbian Milutin Micho Sredejovic who resigned few months ago and has since signed for South African giants, Orlando Pirates.

Desabre was until recently at the helm of Egyptian club, Ismaily.

He was unveiled at a ceremony in Kampala on 28 December, 2017, after agreeing terms with the Uganda Football Federation (FUFA).

“Desabre beat 93 other applicants and he will now supervise all the national development teams (U-23, U-20 and U-17) because FUFA’s philosophy is to build football from the grass-roots” said FUFA Chief Executive, Edgar Watson.

Desabre will be assisted by Mathias Lule, who deputized for interim trainer, Moses Basena.

“I’m glad am here and I will try my best to see that I work and make millions of Ugandans happy. I have been following Uganda and I know some of the players.

“Uganda is a great footballing nation and now the task ahead is to prepare for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) and we have no time but start to focus on the tournament ahead,” Desabre told the press.

The 41-year old journeyman lists ASEC Mimosas (Cote d’Ivoire), Coton Sport Garoua (Cameroon), Wydad Athletic Club (Morocco), Esperance (Tunisia) amongst his previous jobs.
