Tripoli, Libya, December 31  (Infosplusgabon) - The International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced here on Saturday that it provided assistance to some 41,000 migrants inside and outside shelters in Libya in 2017, providing hygiene items and basic emergency services.

IOM said it provided more than 365,000 food rations to some 12,000 migrants in Sabratha and Zouara shelters in Western Libya as part of the organization's emergency response to migrants.

In recent days, the organization has been providing a shipment of humanitarian aid to the Migrant Detention Center, a Tajoura branch of the Tripoli Anti-Human Smuggling Organ.

The aid shipment to the Tajoura center, which has been distributed to 350 migrants, includes health and personal effects to help improve their situation in the shelters.

The IOM and other organizations that are active in the humanitarian field are providing humanitarian aid to migrant detention centers in Libya, following the media campaign known as "trafficking in migrants", and following international media campaign unveiling an alleged auction market of immigrants as slaves.
