Port-Louis, Mauritius, December 20 (Infosplusgabon) - The Government of the People’s Republic of China has donated 30 buses to Mauritius to help the island cope with its growing road traffic, Infosplusgabon learnt on Wednesday from official sources in the Mauritian capital.

Mauritian Public Infrastructure and Land Transport Minister Mr Nandcoomar Bodha said that fundamental changes in the public transport sector were in the pipeline adding that the National Transport Corporation (NTC) would be called upon to play a major role to bring forward a modern, sophisticated, user-friendly transport system.

He said the buses would enable the NTC to boost and modernise its services. Moreover, 100 buses have been bought by government and environmental friendly electric buses are also on the agenda.

For his part, the Chinese Ambassador Mr Sun Gongyi emphasised that the donation testified to China’s unflinching support to the Government which was clearly inclined to improve quality of life of the population.
