Kigali, Rwanda, November 28 (Infosplusgabon) - A weeklong show of products made in Rwanda opens Wednesday in Kigali under the auspices of the country's Private Sector Federation (PSF) with 305 exhibitors taking part in the event.
According to a statement issued by the PSF on Tuesday, locally manufactured products at the fair will include textiles, footwear, construction materials, pharmaceuticals and sanitary products.
It's the first trade fair to be held in Rwanda exclusively focused on local goods. Officials said it is intended to compensate for difficulties in the local market and increase the volume of exports.
Rwanda currently earns approximately US$ 112 million from exports annually and its goal is to boost the volume of foreign trade to bring in up to US$500 million a year.
Business experts, however, say that there are enormous challenges in promoting locally made products given the limited capacity of manufacturing plants.
