Harare, Zimbabwe, November 28 (Infosplusgabon) -  President Emmerson Mnangagwa, on his first day at work following his inaguration last Friday, has dissolved the cabinet of former President Robert Mugabe.

He has also appointed Patrick Chinamasa and Simbarashe Mumbengegwi acting ministers of Finance and Foreign Affairs respectively until the appointment of a new cabinet, the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) reported on Monday.

ZBC quoted the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Misheck Sibanda, as saying President Mnangagwa was in the process of putting together a new team of cabinet ministers.

He added that the appointment of Chinamasa and Mumbengegwi was done "to allow for uninterrupted services in critical ministries of government".

Dr Sibanda said President Mnangagwa was scheduled to meet heads of ministries (Permanent Secretaries) on Tuesday.

President Mnangagwa on Friday took the oath of office with a pledge to "hit the ground running", reconcile the nation and fight corruption as the country enters "the second phase of its birth".

In an address delivered at the National Stadium in Harare, he said realizing that the urgent tasks facing the country could not be solved by speeches, he intended to "hit the ground running", adding that there was the need for all to unleash their energies to succeed.

Mnangagwa, 71, who was nominated as president by the ruling ZANU-PF party after the resignation of President Mugabe last Tuesday, said the country needed to do a lot to give the nation a new direction.

He will serve out the remainder of Mugabe's term until elections are held in September next year.
