|Kigali, Rwanda, November 25 (Infosplusgabon) - Rwandan female cyclist, Esther Mutangampundu, has been killed after being struck by a vehicle while training ahead of her first participation in the Under-23 African Cycling Championship in 2018, to be hosted by Rwanda, Sports sources confirmed in Kigali.
In a statement, the Rwanda Cycling Federation (Ferwacy) explained that Mutangampundu, 19, was attending a special bootcamp at the Africa Rising Cycling Center located in the Northern Rwanda when she was hit by a vehicle on Thursday morning during a training ride.
"This is a tragedy too big for the whole Rwanda cycling fraternity," the President of Rwanda Cycling Federation, Aimable Bayingana, told reporters in Kigali.
Rwanda last hosted the continental tournament in 2010 and 2018 will be a second time for African Continental Road Championships to take place in the East African nation.
