Zambia's President Lungu to attend SADC Troika summit on Zimbabwe

Lusaka, Zambia, November 20  (Infosplusgabon) - Zambian President Edgar Lungu will on Tuesday travel to Luanda, Angola, to attend the extraordinary summit of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) organ Troika on politics, defence and security cooperation to discuss the unfolding developments in Zimbabwe.

 

The summit of the Troika, which will be hosted by President Joao Lourenco of Angola, who is the Chairperson of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security, will also be attended by South African President Jacob Zuma.

 

The summit is expected determine the next course of action regarding the impasse in Zimbabwe, Foreign Affairs Minister Harry Kalaba said in Lusaka on Monday.

 

Kalaba said the meeting follows an emergency ministerial meeting of the SADC Troika on the situation in Zimbabwe held in Gaborone, Botswana, on 16 November which recommended that an emergency Heads of State summit be held to determine the next course of action.

 

Troika plus chair members are Angola, South Africa, Tanzania (outgoing chair) and Zambia (incoming chair).
