Abuja, Nigeria, November 16 (Infosplusgabon) - Nigeria’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday approved the engagement of a Malaysian consultancy firm to do a study that will aid implementation of the National Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP).
Minister of Budget and National Planning Udo Udoma told journalists at the end of the Council's meeting, which was presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, that the contract with the Malaysian firm is worth N458 million (N305 = $1)
Mr Udoma explained that the consultant would identify relevant stakeholders in both private and the public sectors for the implementation of the ERGP, spanning agriculture, transportation, power, gas and processing sectors.
"We intend to conduct three labs - one in agriculture and transportation, one in power and gas and one in manufacturing and processing. The key objectives of the labs are: to identify all relevant key stakeholders from the public and private sector that are crucial in the delivery and implementation of the ERGP initiative so as to create ownership early on in the development process.
"We will review and re-evaluate the ERGP and sectoral plans against set targets and progress and will include identifying gaps in the current ecosystem and the key success factors."
According to the minister, the cost of retaining the Malaysian consultants will be N458m for about three months, while the duration of the lab is expected to last 13 weeks.
