Global report says deaths by Boko Haram terrorist group decreased by 80% in 2016

Abuja, Nigeria, November 16 (Infosplusgabon) - For the third year running, Nigeria remains in 2017 the third most terrorised nation in the world, according to a report released Wednesday by the Global Terrorism Index (GTI).

The position of Iraq and Afghanistan have not changed as the two countries were ranked first and second respectively in the 2017 GTI.

Nigeria has been battling the Boko Haram insurgency in its northeast region since 2009. It occupied the same third position ranking in 2015 and 2016 but was ranked fourth in 2014.

The GTI, which is in its fifth edition, is produced annually by the Institute for Economics
