Dakar, Senegal, November 15 (Infosplusgabon)  - Senegal crowned a successful 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign with a 2-1 victory over South Africa in their final Group D match played at the Stade Léopold Sédar Senghor in Dakar on Tuesday night.

That was the second victory of Teranga Lions over Bafana Bafana in four days, having secured the only ticket of the Group following a 2-0 win in their penultimate qualifying match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Friday.

Senegal opened the scoreline in the 55th minute through Opa Nguette but South Africa's Percy Tau equalised for his country 10 minutes later.

Kara Mbodji put the cherry on the icing for the Teranga Lions in time added-on as Senegal march into their second World Cup after 2002.

In the other Group B match played at the Stade du 4 aout in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso thumped Cape Verde 4-0.

Senegal ended the qualifying group matches with 14 points, Burkina Faso had 9, Cape Verde had 6, while South Africa had 4 points.

The five teams that have emerged from the Africa Zone are Tunisia, Morocco, Nigeria, Egypt and Senegal.
