Former UNIDO boss elected presidential candidate

Freetown, Sierra Leone, November 13  (Infosplusgabon) - Former Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, Dr Kandeh Yumkella, has been elected as the presidential candidate for the newly formed National Grand Coalition (NGC).

He was elected during the party’s first delegates' conference that was held in the southern district of Bo, party sources said on Monday. Dr Yumkella contested alongside two others.

In his acceptance speech, he said he was building his campaign on the foundation of hope, opportunity and transformation.

Dr Yumkella defected from the main opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) in September after a failed bid to become their presidential candidate.
