Rwanda's inflation rate inches up in October

Imprimer PDF

Kigali, Rwanda, November  10 (Infosplusgabon) - Rwanda's headline annual inflation increased slightly to 3.6 percent in October from 3.8 percent in the previous month, the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda said on Friday.

"The increase in the consumer price index is attributable primarily to the increase in prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels," the institute said in a statement.

Rwanda's core inflation rate, which excludes fresh food and energy, rose by 0.5 percent in October when compared to September, the institute said.

Economic experts argue that inflation normally goes up in October because of food prices.
