Kigali, Rwanda, November 9 (Infosplusgabon) - Rwandan Police are ranked first in East African region and 50th at the global level, according to the World Internal Security and Police Index which was released on  Wednesday by the International Police Science Association (IPSA).

It is said that the global index looks not only at results and outputs like homicide, terrorism, and violent crime but also it considers to measure the ability of security bodies to render security services.

With this recognition, Rwanda performed strongly in 2016 on the process and legitimacy domains, with Botswana in particular having low levels of reported bribe payments to police, and high levels of confidence in police at the local level, the report said.

Among the five best performing countries at the global level are Singapore on top, followed by Finland and Denmark.

The five worst countries are Pakistan, Uganda, Kenya, DR Congo and Nigeria which have the weakest potential response to further outbreaks of internal disruption, and are thus more likely than other countries to fall into internal conflict, it said.

The World Internal Security and Police Index (WISPI) ranks 127 countries based on 16 indicators across four domains.

The core aim when developing the Index was to be able to rank as many countries as possible on their level of police responsiveness to internal security, the report said.
