Khartoum, Sudan, November 6 (Infosplusgabon) -  Nigerian football legend Emmanuel Amunike has sealed a coaching contract with the Sudan's Khartoum al-Watani (Arabic for The National) Football Club.

The weekly electronic magazine (SUDANOW) on Monday reported that Amunike started coaching his new team on Sunday “amid a wide euphoria from the public, the media and the club's fans”.

The magazine, ran by the Sudanese News Agency SUNA, reported that following a training session with his team on Sunday Amunike told his players that he was happy to be in Sudan.

His first message to the players was that he expected them to work harder during the season.

He told the players that he had just learned that the team has to play two away matches and wished them success, a reference to the team’s upcoming matches against Alwadi and Almirrikh of Nyala City in the far west of Sudan.

He stressed that he wanted his players to “fight” hard to collect all six points in Nyala in order to secure a place in one of next season’s African competitions.

The Khartoum Club, sponsored by the country’s state security, now ranks fourth in the ongoing Sudanese premier league contest.
