LEAD: Wydad Casablanca crowned 2017 CAF Champions League Champions

Casablanca, Morocco, November 5 (Infosplusgabon) -  Wydad Athletic Club of Casablanca, Morocco, on Saturday won the 2017 Total CAF Champions League when they beat Egyptian side Al Ahly 1-0 in the second-leg final match played at the Mohamed V Complex in Casablanca.

Wydad who held the Egyptian giants to a 1-1 draw in the first-leg match played in Alexandria, Egypt, a week ago won on a 2-1 aggregate.

In a tense match, a 69th minute header by Walid El Karti settled the duel of the North African giants.

The stadium which was a sea of red, erupted into joy when the ball finally sailed into the net.

This is the second time the Moroccan club have won the coveted crown after their 1992 victory. They lost the finals in 2011 to Esperance Sportive de Tunis of Tunisia.

Al Ahly was making their 11th appearance at the final, having tasted defeat twice previously in 1983 and 2007.
