Freetown, Sierra Leone, November 3 (Infosplusgabon) - Victims of the August 14 mudslide in the country have expressed their frustration over the amount of money government has decided to give them as a resettlement package.

“We are appealing to the government to increase the sum, that money is not enough to feed our families, let alone rent a home,” Mahmoud Yillah, a survivor of the disaster told PANA on Friday.

There over 3,000 victims of the disaster across different camps. The government has announced that all camps would be closed by November 15 and a resettlement package of US$ 290 in addition to household utensils would be given to family heads.

The Office of National Security could not disclose how many family heads would receive this package, but said the family size may vary from three to as much as eight people.

There is a risk of many of these families ending up in the street or resettling in risk prone areas in the country.
