Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, November 3 (Infosplusgabon) - More than 250 journalists, human rights defenders, students, civil society groups and public institutions are expected to attend the 7th International Festival of Freedom of Expression from 8 to 11 November in Ouagadougou.

The chairman of the private media organization, Society of Publishers, Boureima Ouédraogo, said on Thursday that the theme of the festival is "Security Challenges in Africa: Roles and responsibilities of media."

Mr. Ouédraogo urged defence and security forces to build strategic partnerships with the media, saying, "The media are highly sought after by terrorism and they can be subject to manipulation by terrorist groups to glorify violence. The fight against terrorism is not just the responsibility of defence and security forces but of all and mostly the media."

The 6th Festival was interrupted by a foiled coup in September 2015 in Ouagadougou.
