Cape Town, South Africa, November  2 (Infosplusgabon) - There was chaos in the South African Parliament on Thursday as opposition lawmakers hurled abuse at President Jacob Zuma who finds himself embroiled in yet another major controversy.

This follows this week’s release of Jacques Pauw's explosive new book, "The President's Keepers", which identifies key players in the local tobacco trade, police officials and state security agency spy bosses who are accused of working  together to ensure that Zuma is not jailed for numerous alleged graft cases.

It also claims that he was employed by a private company, earning a salary of about US$100,000 after he was elected President in 2009.

Responding, Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane‚ said Zuma denied the allegations. “I did not receive payments from private individuals or companies during my tenure as president‚ other than those which (have) been disclosed or reported to the necessary authorities.”

He also dismissed the groundswell of public resentment towards him, saying “there are many books and articles (about him) on a daily basis‚ as well as people talking on TV and radio."

"My speculation is that these allegations are made because I lead the biggest party in the country which is in government‚ and they are trying to find ways to undermine the resident,” he said.

Zuma also failed to say how much of taxpayers money has been spent on his lawyers fees to ensure that he did not appeared in court to face corruption charges.

DA MP John Steenhuisen said Zuma was refusing to answer the questions and he labeled deputy speaker Lechesa Tsenoli as “absolutely useless”.

The DA MPs then walked out of Parliament while Zuma laughed at them. It was Zuma’s last quarterly question session for the year.
