Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, October 31 (Infosplusgabon) - The President of Burkina Faso, Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, on Tuesday laid a wreath in memory of the 30 people who died in October 2014, during the popular insurrection against ousted President Blaise Compaore.

The ceremony marked the end of a week of commemorative activities on the 3rd anniversary of the fall of Compaoré.

In late October 2014, a popular insurgency ousted Compaoré, who sought to change the constitution to run for another term.

Thirty people were killed and several hundreds injured.

Compaore fled to Cote d'Ivoire, where his wife comes from, and has obtained Ivorian nationality.

In the last three years, parents of the victims have been complaining about the slow pace to bring the perpetrators of the killings to justice.

The prosecutor of Burkina Faso, Maïza Sérémé, said last Friday that 17 people were placed under arrest while legal proceedings have been initiated against the former Minister of Transition, General Yacouba Isaac Zida, in connection with the killings.
