Freetown, Sierra Leone, October 30 (Infosplusgabon) - Sierra Leone's men's Beach Volleyball team has secured a slot in the forthcoming Commonwealth games in Australia. They defeated South Africa by 2 sets to 1 in the finals of a two-day qualifiers in the capital, Freetown.
Africa has only one spot for the Beach Volleyball in the Australia games. Countries like Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Mauritius and Sychelles all took part in the qualifiers that was hosted by Sierra Leone.
Rwanda Female Beach Volleyball team also qualified for the games after beating their Nigerian counterparts in the finals.
Director of Beach Volleyball in Sierra Leone, Sorie Kamara, told Infosplusgabon that they are proud of the team’s performance and will be preparing ahead of the games next year.
“The boys did great. We will now focus on preparing them for Australia 2018,” Kamara said.
Sierra Leone is a very strong force in Beach Volleyball game across Africa. The country is ranked second after South Africa in the continent.
