Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, October 26  (Infosplusgabon) -  The third edition of the International Anti-Counterfeiting Exhibition began in Abidjan, the Ivorian capital, on Wednesday under the theme: "Raising awareness about the originality of products and services as the driving force behind development for an emerging Africa ".

The three-day exhibition is aimed at raising awareness on the dangers of fraud and the risks incurred by fraudsters.

National Coordinator of the Prevention and Investigation Unit of the National Anti-Counterfeiting Committee, Col. Bahin Guillaume, reported that 80 per cent of products imported into Côte d'Ivoire, including medicines, were counterfeit and that worldwide, counterfeiting accounts for 10 percent of trade, or 2000 billion CFA francs.

"The streets of Abidjan are riddled with fake drugs and young sellers," he noted.
