Freetown, Sierra Leone, October 20 (Infosplusgabon) - The Produce Monitoring Board (PMB) has announced plans for its first annual produce fair for local farmers across the country, according to the Executive Secretary of the PMB, Haja Isatu Kabba.

Kabba told Infosplusgabon  on Friday that the quality fair would be held in the Southern District of Bo, from the 8-18 November this year.

“Hopefully, this will strengthen and create international exposure for over 100 farmers and 60 cooperative groups  across the country,” Kabba told Infosplusgabon.

Kabba said the focus of this event would be on quality and networking between farmers and exporters within the agricultural sector.

“The exhibition will create a platform for farmers and build trust among them so that they have the environment in which they could operate and make profit,” Kabba said.

This is the first time the body is organizing this event. The group says they are being supported by other local agencies like the Standard Bureau and the Sierra Leone Investment and Export Promotion Agency.

Sierra Leone’s agricultural sector is the second highest contributor to the country’s GDP after Mining.
