Brazzaville, Congo, October 19 (Infosplusgabon) -  Six African Heads of State are on Thursday attending an international conference in the Congolese capital, Brazzaville, on the political and security crisis in the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), Congolese public radio reported.

Those expected to attend are Michael Archange Touadera of the Central African Republic, Joao Lourencon of Angola, Edgar Lungu of Zambia, Joseph Kabila of DR Congo, Paul Kagame of Rwanda and Denis Sassou Nguesso of Congo.

Touadera, Lourencon, Lungu and Kabila arrived in Brazzaville on Wednesday while Kagame is expected on Thursday morning, the broadcast said.

The Heads of State will evaluate the Addis Ababa Framework Agreement reached between DR Congo political actors and the international community.

Since this agreement was concluded in 2015 under the aegis of the African Union, several challenges have emerged and DR Congo has still not gone to the polls.

The Great Lakes region faces serious violence. Several armed conflicts are raging thus  preventing to populations from enjoying safety and security as well as exploitation of natural resources. The actions of militias and rebels against statutory authorities remain at the heart of many crises.
