Nairobi, Kenya, October 16 (Infosplusgabon) -  An 18-year old school boy was shot dead and a two-year old baby battled bullet wounds on Monday after a deadly police crackdown against opposition supporters in Kisumu, witnesses said.

Michael Okoth, a final year High School student, was shot dead while trying to sell ice cream near his home in Kisumu, his mother Caroline Okello told reporters.

“I was waiting for him to come home for lunch. He did not come back only to be told of his death,” the boy’s mother said.

Witnesses told reporters the policeman who shot the teenager used a knife to remove the bullet from victim's body.

The second victim of Monday’s police brutality, was a two-year old girl, also rushed to the Jaramogi Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu, where she waited for a surgical operation to remove the bullet in her neck, her mother said.

Protests against the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission  (IEBC) have continued for the fourth week in  a row.

In Kisumu, Governor Anyang Nyong'o led a march along the streets of the city while another group kept vigil outside the IEBC gates in Kisumu.

In the capital, Nairobi, police blocked lawmakers from leading a protest to the offices of the IEBC.

Police used live ammunition and teargas to target the opposition lawmakers as they attempted to march into the Nairobi central business district.

The Opposition have vowed to ignore an election on 26 Oct. insisting the process ended with the withdrawal of Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka, his running mate.

The IEBC is preparing to print ballot papers this week ahead of the election while its commissioners are visiting counties to check preparations for the repeat election in nine days.
