Sierra Leone: Ruling party announces Sierra Leone presidential candidate

Freetown, Sierra Leone, October 15 (Infosplusgabon) - Sierra Leone's ruling All Peoples Congress (APC) has picked Samura Kamara, currently Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, as its  candidate for the March 2018 presidential election.

The announcement was made on Sunday, the final day of the presidential nomination convention, held in the northern city of Makeni.

Incumbent President Ernest Bai Koroma was endorsed to continue as Chair of the APC.

Kamara was among 27 other aspirants who announced their bid to lead the party in the forthcoming election.

Deputy majority leader in the House of Parliament, Chernor Bah has also been announced running mate of Kamara.

Kamara is expected to announce the direction of his campaign in the coming weeks.
