South Africa: Former Panapress photographer dies in South Africa

Cape Town, South Africa, October 15 (Infosplusgabon) -  Former Panapress photographer Peter McKenzie died in Durban on Saturday after a long illness. He was 58.

 

McKenzie’s career included working at 'Sunday Tribune' and 'The Star' newspapers of South Africa. He also worked as the chief photographer at Drum magazine and he founded the Durban Centre for Photography.

 

He served as the head of the photojournalism department at the Institute for the Advancement of Journalism.

 

McKenzie was a recipient of the National Arts Council Award for his work in celebrating the Indian and Coloured communities in Durban. He  was also the commissioned photographer of the project 'Every Child is My Child' by the Office of the South African Presidency.

 

His recent exhibition 'The Rise and Fall of Apartheid' was held in New York, Germany and Sweden in 2013 and 2014.
