Burkina Faso: Burkina Faso abortive coup maker released on bail

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, October 11 (Infosplusgabon) - A Burkina Faso General who was involved in a failed coup against the transitional government in 2015 has been released from jail on medical grounds, the local media reported on Wednesday.

The pro-governmental newspaper, Sidwaya, said that a military court released General Djibril Bassole, who was the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the regime of ousted President Blaise Compaoré, on Tuesday evening. He was jailed for two years for his role in the failed coup.

Sources close to his family confirmed his release adding that a delegation on Wednesday went to the army barracks to welcome him.

General Gilbert Diendere, a right hand man of Compaoré and mastermind of the putsch, and several other soldiers are still being held in prison.
