Burundi: Enraged man hacks six people with machete, hangs himself in Burundi

Bujumbura, Burundi, October 10 (Infosplusgabon) - Six villagers were hacked to death by 24 year-old Claude Mbarushimana on Monday night in eastern Burundi's Karusi province, National Police spokesman Pierre Nkurikiye said on Tuesday.

The alleged killer, who used a machete in the attack, also torched 11 homes in the village before hanging himself on a tree, where his body was found, according to the police. His wife and three children were among the victims.

Nkurikiye said that Mbarushimana was a carpenter and he started a squabble at a village bar. Seven witnesses of the event have been arrested for failure to save those who were in danger, he added.
