Belgium: Belgian court revokes Sudanese migrant's expulsion order

Brussels, Belgium, October 10 (Infosplusgabon) - Following a complaint lodged by the Belgian Human Rights League, (Ligue des droits de l'Homme, LDH) a court in Liège on Tuesday rejected the expulsion order served on a Sudanese migrant, who has been detained in Vottem closed centre.

LDH's chair,  Alexis Deswaef, opposed the Belgian Asylum and Migration Secretary of State, Théo Francken, who decided to "clean" Brussels' Maxillien Park of dozens of migrants who occupied the space, mainly Sudanese.

The court in Liège condemned the Belgian government, considering illegal the repatriation of the Sudanese migrants, because Sudan is accused of massive human rights abuses while its president, Omar el-Béchir, is wanted by the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity.
