CAIRO, Egypt, October 7 (Infosplusgabon) -  With the final whistles gone in the penultimate Group D matches in 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in Africa, all four teams will still fancy their chances in securing the sole ticket for the tournament to be hosted in Russia.

South Africa whipped Burkina Faso 3-1 while Senegal scored two late goals to beat Cape Verde 2-0 in Praia.

The results mean that Senegal have jumped to the top of the table with 8 points, Burkina Faso 6, Cape Verde also 6 and South Africa 4.

However, Senegal and South Africa will replay their first-round match because FIFA annulled the result after they determined that a penalty kick awarded to Senegal by Ghanaian referee Joseph Lamptey should not have stood.

In Group A, Tunisia took a giant step towards reaching Russia 2018 when they walloped Guinea 4-1 away while DR Congo beat Libya 2-1 in their away encounter.

Tunisia have 13 points, DRC 10, Guinea 3 and Libya 3.
