MUMBAI, India, October 6 (Infosplusgabon) - Paraguay on Friday beat Mali 3-2 in their Group B, Day 1 match of the 2017 FIFA U-17 WC tournament played in Mumbai to lead the group after New Zealand and Turkey drew 1-1 in the other group match.
Paraguay raced into a 2-0 lead after only 17 minutes, but Mali rallied back into contention and levelled the scores at 2-2 before the break.
Mali unfortunately conceded a penalty in the second half that was converted by Paraguay to give them victory.
In Group A matches played in New Delhi, USA and Ghana won their Day 1 matches but USA lead the table following a 3-0 hammering of hosts India. Ghana beat Colombia 1-0 in the opening match.
The tournament continues on Saturday with Group C and Group D matches that will see Africa's other two participants being in action.
Guinea will play Iran in Group C while Niger will meet DPRK in Group D.
