FREETOWN, Sierra Leone, October 5 (Infosplusgabon) -  French Naval vessel, Avison Commandant Bouan, on Thursday started a three-day training for the Sierra Leone Navy aimed at combating terrorism and participation in joint military operations with other countries.

France's Attache to Guinea and Sierra Leone, Colonel Roland Braile told the media that the purpose of the training is to help better relations between the French Navy and other navies in West Africa.

In the last three months, the French Navy has conducted similar training for Guinea, Senegal and Cote d'Ivoire, he said.

Sierra Leone Navy Commander, Philip Juana stressed the importance of the training for the army, noting that the country's Navy personnel have undergone a lot of training after the civil war, mainly from the British and US Navy.

Avison Commandant Bouan which docked Wednesday at the Queen Elizabeth II Quay is expected to sail away on Saturday after the training.
