CAPE  TOWN,  South Africa, October 4 (Infosplusgabon) - The family of jailed paralympian, Oscar Pistorius, has expressed outrage over a film released in the United States about the murder of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.

South African-born Andreas Damm plays the role of Pistorius while German model, Toni Garrn, portrays Steenkamp.

The family says the movie, “Blade Runner Killer”, shows a “blatant disregard” for both families which were affected by the tragedy and they are taking legal action against the producers.

They also describe the film as “a gross misrepresentation of the truth”.

“The film is a gross distortion of the findings of the court. Oscar was subjected to indepth assessments and on-going tests almost daily. At no stage was he found to have the mind of a killer‚” the family said in a statement.

Both of Pistorius' legs were amputated below the knee when he was 11 months old. At the 2011 World Championships in Athletics, Pistorius became the first amputee to win a non-disabled world track medal. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, Pistorius became the first double-leg amputee to participate in the Olympics.

On Valentine's Day in 2013, Pistorius fatally shot Steenkamp at his Pretoria home. He claimed he had mistaken Steenkamp for an intruder hiding in the bathroom, but he was arrested and charged with murder.

He is currently serving a six-year jail term in Pretoria.
