BRAZZAVILLE, Congo, October 3 (Infosplusgabon) - The Congolese Minister of primary and secondary education, in charge of literacy, Anatole Collinet Makosso, said on Tuesday that the country will experience a deficit of almost 19,000 teachers for the 2017-2018 school year.
For the 2016-2017 school year, the deficit was 14,000 teachers caused mainly by the retirements of teachers and by the ban of recruitment following the economic crisis facing the government for nearly three years, the Minister explained.
"Each year, 5,000 to 6,000 teachers retire and if nothing is done to replace them, this deficit will reach a peak of 36,000 by 2019," he added.
