KIGALI, Rwanda, October 1 (Infosplusgabon) - Rwanda and Benin on Saturday agreed to strengthen their development strategies and deepen cooperation in the fields of agriculture, tourism, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), city services and land management.

The agreement was reached when Rwandan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Louise Mushikiwabo and her Benin counterpart, Aurélien Agbénonci met in Rubavu, a town located in northwestern Rwanda, near the border with DR Congo.

During the meeting, it was also suggested both sides broke new ground in agriculture, industrial capacity cooperation and other innovation in urban settlements

Benin foreign minister described Rwanda as a "strategic partner" and praised the close cooperation between them in trade and investment.

"Benin looks forward to more coordination with Rwanda in regional and international affairs," he said.

The meeting comes one week after the municipal authorities of Kigali and Cotonou, the economic capital of Benin, decided to forge a strategic partnership through the exchange of experience in urban development, sanitation and urban land development.

During a meeting between the mayor of Kigali, Pascal Nyamurinda, and his counterpart of Cotonou, Lehady Vinangnon Soglo, they decided to consolidate their partnership in several areas.
