FREETOWN, Sierra Leone, September 21 (Infosplusgabon) -  The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Sierra Leone has officially indicted the President and Secretary General of the Sierra Leonean Football Association (SLFA) on corruption charges. This announcement comes 48 hours after Isha Johansen announced her bid to run for a second term as President of the SLFA.

Johansen and Secretary General, Chris Kamara, have both been charged by the anti-graft body for alleged misuse of public funds and abuse of power. They are set to appear in court on 30 October this year.

This indictment follows an investigation by the ACC late last year, which saw both executive members locked up at the Criminal Investigation Department.

In her response, Johansen said: “It's another sad day for justice, integrity and patriotism in Sierra Leone. Another sad day for any woman who dares to pioneer change.”

It is not clear where this indictment would leave her campaign for the presidency. But she has vowed not to give up “ I don’t know where my story will end, but nowhere would it be written that Isha Johansen ever gave up,” Johansen said.

Johansen’s four year tenure as president of the Sierra Leone FA have been blighted with tussles, Ebola virus and recently court cases.

FIFA integrity committee is scheduled to arrive in the country this month, a corruption case on Johansen’s resume will not be good for her second term ambition.
