Kenya: Supreme Court offers explanatory ruling on annulled Presidential vote

NAIROBI,  Kenya, September 20 (Infosplusgabon) -  The Supreme Court in Kenya has started reading its final ruling on the nullified presidential election of 8 August.

Supreme Court President David Maraga said the ruling written by the Court was voluminous to an extent it would require the court a whole day to deliver. He said the judges would provide an abridged version of their ruling.

In providing the ruling, which led to the vote nullification, the Supreme Court said it depended on shifting "burden of proof", which required the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to prove that it, in fact, conducted the elections in accordance with the law.

In the ruling, the Supreme Court rejected a request to recognise rejected votes cast as part of the final tally.
