Sierra Leone: Sierra Leone FA president announces second term bid

FREETOWN,  Sierra Leone, September 19 (Infosplusgabon) -  After months of speculations, Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) president Isha Johansen on Tuesday announced her decision to run for a second term.

Johansen is the third candidate to announce her bid for the presidency, after David Conteh and Sanusi Bruski.

She was first elected as president of the FA in a controversial election in 2013, when she went unopposed. She has since been locked in serious disputes with different football factions and the government, on how she has managed football in the country.

The FA has not agreed a new date for elections, after the first date was cancelled by FIFA pending integrity checks on potential executive members. The FIFA integrity check committee is due to arrive in Freetown next week.

Johansen is set to face a stiff competition from main opponent, Bruski. She is the only woman FA president in Africa and she was recently elected to the continent’s football executive body.
