Tripoli, Libya, November 1 (Infosplusgabon) - The chairman of the presidential council of the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez al-Sarraj, Friday commiserated with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan over the earthquake that hit the country, an official source here said.

He expressed "the solidarity of the Libyan people and its position to the fellow Turkish people in this difficult period with a violent earthquake in the city of Izmir".

A statement issued by the press office of the presidential council said al-Sarraj "offered his condolences and compassion to President Erdogan, the fellow Turkish people and the families of the dead in the earthquake, praying God to accelerate the recovery of the wounded and to protect the fellow Turkish people from any evil".

Twelve people were killed and 419 wounded in Turkey Friday after a 6.6 magnitude Richter scale earthquake hit the western coast of the country and some parts of Greece.
