Dakar, Senegal, November 1 (Infosplusgabon) - The semi-final of the African Football Champions league, supposed to be played on Sunday, 1 November, in Cairo between Zamalek of Egypt and Raja de Casablanca (Morocco) was Friday again postponed.

Initially due for last Saturday, it has postponed because of cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) detected among Moroccan players.

The Confederation of African football (CAF) has now announced that the return match (1-0 for Zamalek in Casablanca in the first leg) cannot be played on Sunday.

As a result, the final of the Champions League due for 5 November in Egypt has also been postponed.

Al Ahly of Cairo, who qualified at the expense of WAC of Casablanca, will therefore have to wait for a long time to know the name of their adversary.

It is worth pointing out that these two postponements were wished by the Egyptian authorities for security reasons due to the proximity of the parliamentary election.

According to CAF, its experts and the concerned clubs are under discussions “for a planning in harmony with the texts and the interest for the return to the game (…) to find the better date possible for the calendar”.

In another development, the CAF chairman, Malagasy Ahmad Ahmad, announced Friday he had tested positive to COVID-19 and had been placed in isolation for two weeks.
