Bamako, Mali, October 31 (Infosplusgabon) - Officials of the Stade Malien FC of Bamako, Mali, have engaged Ivorian Rigo Yagbe Gervais, as the club's new coach, replacing Nigerian Augustine Owen Eguavoen, who rejected the job last week.

Reports say that coach Gervais arrived in Bamako on Wednesday to sign a two-year contract with the team.

"Immediately after signing his contract, the former coach of AS Kaloum (Guinea) was introduced to the club's supporters," according to local reports.

The Ivorian technician, who left the Guinean club in confused conditions, had no job for several months. He is considered to be an experienced coach, who coached Séwé de San Pedro which he took to the group stage of the 2013 African Champions League.

Aged 45, he notably managed Africa Sport of Abidjan (2016-2017), Stella club Adjamé (2018) and was sporting director and technical manager of Tito FC-G, another Ivorian club.

In 2019, he went to Guinea where he took on the reins of AS Kaloum.

Eguavoen, a former Nigerian international, was offered the job but he declined the offer, explaining that his country had appointed him National Technical Director (DTN) of the Nigerian Super Eagles.
