Tripoli, Libya, October (Infosplusgabon) - The chairman of the presidential council of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez al-Sarraj, Saturday agreed with the Acting Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Stephanie Williams, on the Libyan political dialogue forum as an opportunity to reach a solution without foreign interference.

"The two sides agreed that the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum, to be held in Tunis on November 9, represents a historic opportunity for Libyan politicians to decide on the way to move forward towards a political solution without outside interference,” a statement released Saturday by the media office of the presidential council in Libya.

This, it said, must be done “according to a clear and binding roadmap, with precise dates, to achieve national elections which will be held on a solid constitutional basis".

The meeting between al-Sarraj and Willams is part of the process of consultation on the next steps to resume the political path, in accordance with the results of the Berlin conference, the same source said.

The two sides reaffirmed that "the political solution includes all Libyans and that each must place the interests of the homeland above their personal and regional interests, in order to preserve sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity and the national unity of Libya”.

Fayez al-Sarra announced Friday he had postponed his decision to resign at the end of October, in response to requests from the High Council of State, the Parliament sitting in Tripoli, the Mission to support the United Nations and leaders of foreign countries, until a new authority is set up by the Inter-Libyan Dialogue Commission within the framework of the Political Forum.

An Inter-Libyan Political Dialogue Forum is scheduled for November 9 in Tunisia under the auspices of the United Nations, intended to determine a transition phase which will be managed by a new executive authority as prelude to the organization of a general election as soon as possible.
