Dakar, Senegal, October 4 (Infosplusgabon) - Senegalese sportsmen and women will soon find their way back to stadiums and other centres as sports activities activities are set to resume after being suspended since last March due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The decision to resume sports activities was taken at a meeting held Thursday in Pikine in the suburbs of Dakar, between the Senegalese Minister of Sports, Matar Bâ, and the presidents of sports federations.

The participants resolved to respect the preventive and security measures while resuming sports activities.

Senegal, which registered its first case of Covid-19 on March 2, has distinguished itself in the fight against the disease, reportedly said to be declining in country.

"With certain measures, we must be able to cope and restart our sports activities, especially since," according to Bâ, "international competitions are on the horizon".

On Wednesday, amateur soccer clubs had expressed their wish to restart contact sports, especially soccer, demanding that resumption date be brought back from January 2, 2021, to December 5, 2020.
