Kumasi, Ghana, September 20 (Infosplusgabon) - Six members of a youth football team in Ghana, aged between 12 and 16 years, died on the spot on Saturday when the bus on which they were travelling back home after a football match veered off the road and plunged into a river.

Police said four other members of the team from the Offinso Municipality in the Ashanti Region, central Ghana, are in critical condition and have been sent to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, Ghana's second largest city. The police said 26 others sustained injures and are on admission at a local hospital.

Police say the driver of the vehicle, who was speeding, lost control of the steering wheel, veered off the road and plunged into River Offin.

Divisional Commander for the Offinso Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Ghana Police Service, Deputy Superintendent of Police Edmund Nyamekye, is quoted by the local media as saying there were 36 passengers on board the bus.
