Tripoli, Libya, September 14 (Infosplusgabon) – The German minister of foreign affairs, Heiko Maas, has welcomed the results of the meeting in the Swiss resort town of Montreux on the Libyan political process, and called on all Libyan leaders to seize the opportunity and recognise the results from the intra-Libyan talks.

In a communiqué issued on Sunday, the German ministry of foreign affairs declared: "We note here a rejection of the military logic and a return to the political logic from the Libyan parties, which we are very pleased with.

"This agreement is success for the mediation role played by the United Nations, under the supervision of its acting Special Representative, Stephanie Williams."

The Montreux meeting was held on 7-9 September at the invitation of the Swiss-based private diplomacy organisation, Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue and under the aegis of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).

The participants agreed to hold elections in 18 months and to begin restructuring the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord (GNA) and form a national unity government.

The German ministry of foreign affairs added in its communiqué that through the Berlin process and its contribution to the UN Security Council, Germany and its European partners have contributed to create the framework for such political solution in Libya.

It said Germany significantly contributed to fund the preparation for the Montreux dialogue.

"We respect the agreements between Libyan parties, and we are expecting the same from all participants in the Berlin process, and we will be committed to support their implementation with our international partners," added the communiqué.

In parallel with the Montreux Dialogue, the Moroccan city of Bouznika also hosted a round of talks between the two rival administrations - - Tripoli based Libyan High Council of State and the House of Representatives (Parliament) based in Tobruk.

The meeting ended with a final declaration to carry on with the dialogue, and the next round of the meetings in the last week this month.

The two sides called the United Nations and the international community to back the efforts of Morocco aimed at meeting the appropriate conditions and to establish appropriate atmosphere to reach a global political resolution in Libya.
