Coronavirus: Tunisia records 148 new infections

Tunis, Tunisia, September 5 (Infosplusgabon) - Tunisia has recorded 148 new cases of the coronavirus (Covid-19), bringing to 4,442 the total number of infections recorded in the country since the start of the pandemic,  the Tunisian Ministry of Health announced.

 

Since the re-opening of air and sea borders on June 27, the country has identified 3,341 confirmed cases of Covid-19, including 576 imported, 2,728 local and 37 deaths - 3 in the last 24 hours.

 

Since the diagnosis of the first case on March 2, Tunisia has recorded 84 deaths and 1,680 cured patients, while active cases amounted to 2,629.

 

Areas classified as red in the country currently amount to 21 districts, each of which has recorded an average of more than 10 infections per 100,000 inhabitants, the National Observatory for New and Emerging Diseases said on Friday.

 

According to the director of the Observatory, Incef Ben Alia, the number of coronavirus infections recorded among medical and paramedical staff amounts to 222 cases, including 80 after the opening of  borders.
