Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, September 5 (Infosplusgabon) - United Arab Emirates has offered medical treatment for ousted Malian President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, the Emirati News Agency reported on Saturday quoting the director of Africa Department at the UAE Foreign ministry, Mohamed Chamichi.

Without specifying whether Mr. Keita has already arrived in Abu Dhabi or not, Mr. Chamichi said that the decision "is a favourable and positive response to the request of the National Council for the Salvation of the People, in power in Mali, and after consultation with the current Chair of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS ) and Head of State of Niger, Mahamadou Issoufou."

Mr. Chamichi added: "The United Arab Emirates is aware of the importance linked to the return to stability in Mali and to the execution of a rapid and constructive political process ensuring the best results of Mali and the Sahel region."
