EU congratulates new Tunisian government

Tunis, Tunisia, September 3 (Infosplusgabon) - The EU general spokesperson for foreign affairs and security policy, Peter Stano, Wednesday congratulated the government of Hichem Mechichi following the vote of confidence passed by the Tunisian parliament.

In a statement issued here Wednesday on the European Union official website, Stano expressed the hope of seeing the Mechichi government "achieve the political stability which Tunisia needs to take up the economic and social challenges” posed by the coronavirus pandemic.

He reaffirmed the desire of the European Union to preserve its excellent partnership with Tunisia and work seriously with the new government for the sustainable development of the country.

The government of Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi late Tuesday obtained the confidence of the Tunisian Parliament with a favorable vote of 134 against 67.
