Coronavirus: Senegal records 55 new cases, no death

Dakar, Senegal, August 31 (Infosplusgabon) - For the first time in several days, no coronavirus-related death has been announced in Senegal by the Ministry of Health and Social Action during its daily press briefing on Monday on the evolution of the pandemic in the country.

In total, 284 deaths related to coronavirus have been recorded in Senegal since the first case was detected in the country on 2 March.

The Ministry of Health has nevertheless on Monday announced 55 new cases out of 1,090 tests carried out, which are divided into 34 contact cases, three imported cases and 18 cases resulting from community transmission.

In addition, 51 patients tested negative and were declared recovered, according to the ministry, which reported 36 serious cases treated in resuscitation services.

To date, Senegal has 13,611 positive cases, of which 9,439 have recovered, 284 have died, and 3,887 are still under treatment while one patient was evacuated.
